You Catch. I'll Paint.

I've heard it said that if fishing was only about catching, it wouldn't have been called fishing. It would have been called catching. Yet, there's not much that compares with catching a big fish, except maybe catching another one. I know about the former, but not much about the latter. I'm still waiting on that next big one. In the meantime, if you've been lucky enough to catch a whopper, a nice un, a beauty, a hog, a once-in-a-life-timer (you know what I mean) well, I'd love to help memorialize it for you with a painting that captures your special moment on the water. Granted, that moment most likely has passed, leaving it to only exist in the crystal clear memories of your mind, and hopefully a really good snapshot that your buddy took. Fortunately, that's all I need to get started. Use the contact button below if you want to hang a memory on your wall.

Meet Josh and his East Fork Brown

At the end of 2016 Josh's Dad saw all the fish I did for Harbor Inn Seafood. He contacted me and said he'd love to get a trout print for both of his sons, Josh and Jonathan. I said, "Hey, that'd be great, there's only one small problem. I ain't got a single trout print!" Bruce said, "What? You mean your out!" "Heck no" I said, "I haven't ever even painted a trout." Which was just silly, because trout are by far my absolute favorite fish. Unfortunately, Harbor Inn didn't serve trout. So a trout I did not paint. Yet, that is. The fact that I had not painted a trout did not mean i had not wanted to paint a trout. The truth was, I couldn't wait to paint a trout and here was my chance. And for a good cause, Christmas. So, I decided to paint not just any old trout for Josh and Jonathan, but a trout of their very own. Meaning one they had landed themselves. I found just the right ones on Instagram. Well, Jonathan's turned into not one but three, but that's whole 'nuther story. See my TROUTFECTA page for that one.

Time for a little gift bragging. My dad blew it out of the water this year. He commissioned his longtime friend, fellow fly fisherman, artist, and all-around cool guy @ramseyman to paint one of my fish. I’m blown away by how cool this is. It’ll be framed shortly and will occupy prime real estate on my wall. Thanks again Greg and Instagram-less dad for making this happen. It’s the coolest.
